Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew has been named ‘Footballer of the Year’ at the 2021 Ghana Football Awards.
Despite being very young, the Ghana Football Awards has gained prominence due to the success of its first two editions.
On Saturday night at the Grand Arena inside the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the third edition of the ceremony was held with impressive attendance from industry players.
On the back of what turned out to be a glamourous event, the ultimate award has been awarded to Ghana captain Andre Ayew.
The attacker for his performance for club and country in the past year has been named as the Footballer of the Year at the 2021 Ghana Football Awards.
In the 2020/2021 football season, Andre Ayew scored 17 goals for Swansea City in the English Championship as he led the side to the finals of the playoffs.
Playing a key role for the Black Stars, the now free-agent inspired his national team to secure qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament as well.
Meanwhile, Black Stars all-time leading top scorer Asamoah Gyan was also named Ghana Football award’s Player of the Decade on the night.
