The District Chief Executive for Ajumako Enyan Essiam District in the Central Region, Mr Emmanuel Ransford Kwesi Nyarkoh, has assured the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to plant mores trees to help the government achieve it target of planting five million trees to create jobs for the citizens, particularly the youth in the country.
According to him, he wants the district to be the greenest in the Central Region as over 5000 trees have been planted as part of the Green Ghana Exercise.
According to him, the tree planting exercise will be a continuous exercise to ensure the target is achieved within the next three years.
Mr Nyarkoh has charged the people in the district to take good care of the trees planted in their various areas in order not for them to their time wasted.
As part of the Green Ghana Day, the DCE of Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Hon. Rev. Ransford Emma Kwesi Nyarko, was joined by the Board Chairman and Staff of Mando SHS, the District Police Commander, the District Director of Education and the Central Regional Director of the Non-Formal Education Unit to carry out a tree planting exercise at the Mando Senior High School.
In all, over 5000 seedlings made up of Economic, Shade and Border trees were planted throughout the District
The DCE stated among others of his desire to ensure the proper nurturing of the trees planted.
“We are working hand in hand with the District Education Directorate to ensure that the trees planted are assigned to students to ensure daily watering of the plants.”
The District Education Director Madam Sabina Aba Wilson on her part committed to ensuring that the seedlings planted in the various Schools are well grown to beutify the school environment and make classroom learning conducive.
The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Forestry Commissioner Rebecca Akomeni also appealed to all the beneficiary institutions to take good care of the trees planted in their area, adding that there will be a monitoring team to supervise the trees planted in the various areas within the district.
