The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Royal Ladies will on Wednesday October 14, 2020 staged a massive peaceful protest on the principal streeets of Suhun in the Eastern Region to register their displeasure about the previous brutalities meted out to some female members and supporters of the NPP by thugs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC ) in Suhun municipality.
The protest would afford the NPP Loyal Ladies opportunity to commemorate and denounce brutalities NDC thugs visited on them in 2016, when they were canvassing votes for then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP on Tuesday night October 11, 2016.
The event, according to the press statement issued yesterday by the leadership of the NPP Royal Ladies, will also use to encourage females who already are or plan on joining partisan politics not to be intimidated or cowered by what some unscrupulous persons and opposition members might do to them in terms of abuses.
The statement recalled that some irate members of the then governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday night (October 11, 2016) assaulted the NPP Loyal Ladies during a house-to-house campaign at Suhum.
The statement noted the the victims sought refuge at the Suhum chief’s palace but the thugs chased us there and assaulted us and some other chiefs who were in a meeting.
Thd statement pointed out that several of them sustained various degrees of injuries.
Those prominent personalities who were billed to speak during the protest include, Hon Cynthia Morrison. Minister for Gender, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Gifty Twum Ampofo, Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Kwadwo Asante Boafo who doubles as the NPP PC for Suhum constituency, Hon. Margaret Darko , Suhum MCE and Suhun NPP Constituency Executives.
