Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, General Ollabode Williams, has stated that the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) should forget about the Ayawaso East seat since the people of that area cannot afford to throw development away.
Mr Williams issued the warning when he was speaking to the journalists on the sidelines when the Ayawaso East Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Hon Mahama Nasser Toure filed his nomination forms to contest the parliamentary election in 2020 on Wednesday October 7, 2020.
Mr Williams sent a stern warning message to the members of the NPP in the area to forget their ambitions of annexing the seat from the NDC in the 2020 general elections.
According to him, the social and infrastructure developmental projects and programmes in the area were all done under the leadership of Hon. Naser Toure Mahama therefore the NPP cannot claim ownership of any such developmental project and programme.
He stressed the need for the people of Ayawaso East to continue to repose the confidence Hon. Mahama and vote massively for him to retain the seat.
“Ayawaso East constituency seat is a safe seat for the NDC so NPP must forget about it,” he stressed.
“You are know the good work Hon Mahama Nasser Toure has done for the people of the constituency, which includes the provision of a generator for the only community clinic, two unit classroom block, bridge among other social intervention projects and programmes,” he mentioned.
He noted that when one enters the constituency, every corner had been cemented.
Mr. Ollabode said the difference between the NDC and NPP in the last election was 11,000 votes but vowed to increase it to 35,000 votes.
“My people are determined, the branch executives, the constituency executives are all doing their bid and I can tell you that the difference this time will be more than 11,000 votes which was recorded in 2016.
“Our MP good works will speak for him. I can confidently tell you that the Ayawaso East seat is for NDC”, he noted.
He further hinted that the leadership of the party would not leave any stone unturned.
“We are determined, we are poised for victory and as long as the MP is winning, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is also winning,”, he assured.
