Traditional office holders, opinion leaders and residents of Bobooboo, the gold mining and farming community in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region have called on the Goldfields Ghana Limited (GFGL) Tarkwa mine, a subsidiary of the Goldfields Ghana Limited (GFGL) to construct an ultra-modern Clinic facility for them to supplement the company’s efforts to improve quality health care delivery systems for the residents in its gold mining host community within the municipality.
According to them, the Bobooboo community is in the dare need of the clinic which can contain an Outpatient Department (OPD) which would provides consulting, hydration, detention, maternity care, wound care, health education, telemedicine, laboratory and pharmacy services.
“We are currently attending to the medical treatment at a very non spacious room which space standard is not even up to toilet side room. It is very shameful and disgraceful to us to continue to be using that small room as the Bobooboo Health Care Center.
“But we know that the Goldfields Ghana Limited being the good and responsible multinational gold mining company is very committed to prioritize the health needs of the members in its host mining communities. So we strongly believe that if the company is being informed about our request through you it would come to our aid to construct the clinic facility for us here in the Bobooboo Community,” the residents made tgis forgoing calll during the fact findings mission to Bobooboo by this reporter.
In the recent visit to the Bobooboo Community, this reporter observed that the community did not have a proper health care center which situation is generally affecting the provision of primary health care delivery systems to the people in the area.
This new portal saw a Senior Community Health Nurse, Madam Edith Quartey who is using a small room like toilet side which she said is the Bobooboo Health Care Center.
Speaking in an interview with this reporter, Madam Edith Quartey lamented that she is operating health care services to the residents in the area in a single non specious room.
In this vain, Madam Quartey called on the compay to support chief and people in the area to fast truck the speedy works on the ongoing Bobooboo Community Health centre project, lamenting that the existing health facility is very small which was adversely affecting the primary health care delivery systems in the area.
Conmentary on the donation of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) she admitted of receiving of some items from the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate adding that “l only received the noise masks from the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate.
She called on the management of the company, Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate to provide the facility with the alcohol based hand sanitizers, veronica buckets and welliton boots.
Looking at the low education on the adherence of the COVID – 19 disease safety preventive protocols, she stated
her outfit has made important to intensify awareness education on the coronavirus disease and its safety protocols among the general public in the area.
For his part, the sub chief of Bobooboo Community, Nana Andoh II noted that the traditional authorities through his instrumentality has set up COVID -19 disease educational Committee which embarked on the awareness education on the adherence of the coronavirus disease and its safety preventive protocols among the general public in the area.
He maintained that the traditional authorities in the area have distributed over a total three thousand (3000) noise masks and other items to the residents to help fight against the spread of the virus in the area.
